How long does Amazon take for the gift certificates?

OK, I used my American Express gift card I got for Christmas and used it to buy Amazon gift cards — I know it seems stupid but I couldn’t ‘use’ two credit cards now could I? Anyway, how long does Amazon take to issue the gift cards/certificates?

Note: I sent them to myself via e-mail.

    Should be instantaneous. I ordered one a few days ago and it was e-mailed within seconds.
